Originally
built as a one-off for a customer who wanted a single handed baitcaster for fishing
his local canals I built another one to take round to shows where it created quite
a bit of interest. Single leg rings are fitted to keep the weight down on a wand
such as this. There are eight inches of cork behind the reel seat, just enough
to rest on your forearm when playing fish, but not so much as to get in the way
when flicking lures around. Slow through action. |

A
pike spinning rod of traditional action that would be suitable for casting lures
to other medium to large species. Suitable for most pike lures up to two ouces
or more. Handy for leaving rigged up in a car for snatched sessions. Will come
in useful as a spoon rod, for wobbling deadbaits, and could even be pressed into
use as deadbait rod for close range fishing. A worthwhile rod to take along 'just
in case' on many trips. Breaks down to 38in (96cm) sections. Standard build for
fixed spool (as shown) but multiplier build can be accomodated. |

I
have been asked to provide rods that can be kept in car boots, or put in suitcases,
for some time. Now I can provide two nine footers. These rods have nothing to
do with the baitcasting rod of the same name which I used to build. It 's just
that I was lacking inspiration and thought 'Sneaker' suited a four piece rod that
could be 'sneaked' here and there! The heavier version of the Sneaker will cover
most pike lure fishing of what you might call the 'traditional' style. It could
also come in handy for stalking carp and sea spinning too. This might well prove
to be the most versatile rod in my range for the non species-specific lure nuts
out there, and for globe trotters too. |

This lighter Sneaker will handle
small pike lures, zander fishing (maybe even some chubbing situations) and possibly
a bit of lighter spinning from the rocks. Don't take my word for it though, none
of that's really my scene! The action is what you would expect from a spinning
rod, pretty much all through but not floppy. |
